Voice search fun!

 Today I was learning to voice search. We had to go to a new tab and we clicked on a microphone on the search bar. We said "How do you say merry christmas in (any language.) We had to learn how to say merry christmas in 5 launguages.

 We also made a GIF. A christmas GIF. My GIF is a snowman blinking and snow is falling in the background. We used "Brush Ninja" to make our GIF. We had to draw the frames by ourselfs.

I enjoyed learninhg how to say merry christmas in five languages. My favorite language to say merry christmas was japanese. I also enjoyed making the GIF. 

I didn't really find anything tricky. Only that we had to go back and forth from google translate to the slides and copy and pasting and that we had to redraw the frames so many times.

2020 Reflection

 Today I was reflecting on this year. I really enjoyed this year, despite of some things that happened this year. This year was a very exciting year with many new things happening, but it's also been a very hard year for some people.

I enjoyed reflecting on this year. One of my goals next year is to advance/accelerate in volleyball. Right now I would say I am a begginer because I can't do a proper serve.

I didn't find anything tricky. Only for reflecting, because my memory is just a little bit fuzzy from what's happened during this year. 

What Is Media?

 Today for our cybersmart lesson, we were learning what media is. We watched a video about media and the video explained that media can come in simple forms that you can find in your house such as; Television, newspaper, books, mobile devices, computers, etc. 

Our task was to take a selfie of ourselves, then go to remove background and edit the background so we didn't look like we were at school. Our cybersmart teacher told us to count how much clicks it took us to change our photo's background. It took me about 4-5 clicks to lie, and I chose a background of autumn trees, and I blurred the background slightly, so it seemed legit. So you shouldn't believe everything you see on the internet.

Terrific Twits!

 Today I was learning how to visualise. We visualised Mr or Mrs twit. We visualised based on what we read. I drew Mrs Twit and visualised her. In the story, the narrator explained she had a glass eye, and was very ugly. So I drew that. Our principle even put up a picture of Mr and Mrs Twit on the TV screen for reference.

First I drew her head as an circle. Then I drew her glass eye and her normal eye. After I drew her nose, mouth and last but not least, her hair. 

I didn't find anything hard. Just that it took lots of time.  

Kapa Haka Diamante Poem

 Today I was writing a 'Diamante poem'. A Diamante poem is writing a poem shaped like a diamond as you would've probably guessed from the name 'Diamante. My Diamante poem is about the kapa haka festival on Tuesday. We had to use three key things, verbs, nouns and adjectives.

We first had to do a draft on paper, then we could publish it on google slides. Our teacher suggested that we change the fonts of every sentence, but I went a little overboard and changed the font of each word. (Oops-) 

I enjoyed writing the Diamante poem and it's been quite sometime since i've wrote a poem, so it feels good to write a poem from time to time. 

I didn't find anything hard, apart from finding the right words to use and changing the fonts, because we didn't have much time to publish our poems and publish it on our blogs.

Amazing Art

 Today I was learning about 'Summer Learning Journey' in CyberSmart. Our task was to do some art. We had to choose a piece of art from the 'Art coloring book' I chose 'Roses' from Vincent van Gogh. I colored in his piece and changed some of the colors, such as for the background. 

I really enjoyed coloring in the picture and trying something new. It was a really great experience to try out new things.

I found coloring in the nooks and crannies hard. It also took me a lot of time  to color in. Other than that nothing was really hard at all.

Sour Sherbert Science!

 Today we were making a science experiment based off of physical change and chemical change. Physical change is something that can be changed and undone. Take ice as an example. You freeze water, which is a liquid it turns into a solid. This can be undone because of temperature. A chemical change is when something cannot be undone. For example, when you make a cake and cook it, there is no going back. 

For our experiment, we made sherbert. First, we each needed a teaspoon and a paper bag. We added 1/2 a teaspoon of  citrus acid  then 1 teaspoon of icing sugar, after that we put in 1/2 a teaspoon of flavouring (raro) to the mix. The final step was to add 1/4 teaspoon of baking soda and we gave it a good shake and stir. And Tada! You have sherbert! (I think it's possible to make at home if you have all the ingredients.)

I found only the measuring hard. That's all I really found hard. Luckily, my friend (who is really good with maths and cooking) helped me measure the ingredients.   

The fun part was that we actually tasted the sherbert and we could take it home!

So the experiment was that we put a little bit of sherbert in our mouths and see what the chemical reaction is. I put about a 1/4 of a teaspoon of sherbert in my mouth and the sherbert started fizzing! I tried again with 1/2 a teaspoon of sherbert and got the same results, but more! That was our experiment.

Tui Ridge Rules

 Today I was making a slide deck for Tui Ridge because we are going to camp on tuesday. First we had to write down what it feels like, look like,  and sound like for respecting ourselves down. We had to repeat that with respecting others and respecting the environment.

I enjoyed making the slides even though it took us about ten minutes or so.

I didn't really find anything hard this time.

Three Little Pigs Scenario

 Today I was drawing a picture of what could've/would've happened to the three little pig's house in a 8.9 earthquake. 

It was pretty simple to draw a broken down house. I didn't really put much detail either because the main focus was just to draw what would happen to a house in a 8.9 earthquake, and I think I did pretty good at replicating that. 

As I said, It was fairly simple to draw what the house would've looked like after a 8.9 earthquake, So that wasn't really tricky for me to do anything.

Great Goals

 Today I was setting my goals for next term. My goal for next term was to get better at sports and get a bit more athletic because nowadays, I'm kinda lazy and just spend most of my time drawing. 

I enjoyed setting my goal and my highlight for this term was Maara-Kai master chef and dodgeball. 

I didn't really find anything tricky to be honest. Other than the fact that my face doesn't fit the circle.

Spectacular Speeches!

 Today my class was reading out our speeches. There were so much topics that people talked about. My one was about cats vs dogs. We had to spin the wheel of death/doom to see who would be picked to get up in front of the class and say their speech. 

I kinda enjoyed reading out my speech to the class, but I was a little nervous so I got my friend to stand next to me as my support person. Lot of the people in my class had a support person go up with them to support them while the person is reading out their speech. But some people didn't bring up a support person and that's completely okay.

I found it tricky to get myself together to say my speech to the class. As I said in my second paragraph some people had to guts to read their speech without a support person by their side.

Beautiful Books

 Today my class was making a book on a app called, book creator. We had to take a lot of instructions and it was very time consuming. Here are some of the steps. We had to first choose our layout then, we had to start writing. Most of our class used voice typing to get down our thoughts/ideas down quickly. 

I enjoyed making the book and changing all the fonts, colors, backgrounds, and patterns.

 I didn't really find anything hard to be honest. Other than the fact that we had to sit on the mat FOREVER.

Marvelous Maori Glossary

 Today I was making a Teo Maori dictionary for Maori language week. We used google drawings to make the glossary. We played 2 kahoot's to get some ideas for our glossary. We could also add words from our pepeha. 

My favorite part was probably drawing the symbols in the google drawing. Other than that I enjoyed doing every single bit overall. 

To be honest I didn't really find anything tricky or hard. My only complaint is that we couldn't insert images, and we had to draw the images we wanted using the tools in google drawings.

Fantastic Filter Feeding!

 Today I was learning about filter feeding. We did a experiment on how shellfish filter feed. We had to take a piece of filter paper and fold it to make a cone like shape. Then we had to put the cone into a funnel. After that we had to put the funnel into a beacon. Then we poured some blue water with bits of glitter in the funnel. The glitter acted as pollution. When we poured the water through the filter paper, the glitter stayed in the filter paper. We did the same with yellow water, which had much more glitter. The same thing happened, and that's how filter feeding works!

I enjoyed doing the experiment and making the slides. The experiment was probably my favorite thing to do because you get to find out how filter feeding animals, like shellfish eat!

I found working with a buddy a bit tricky. We weren't really cooperating, but we got the hang of it. Eventually. 

Creative Cats Vs Dogs

  Today I was reading about cats vs dogs. In my opinion, I think cats are better because, they generally cost less and also for other reasons. (You will see the other reasons in the slides below)

I enjoyed reading the text cats vs dogs. I also enjoyed watching the videos and making the slides.

I found finding reasons for why cats are better tricky. But, the video provided in the slides helped me find reasons on why cats are better than dogs.

Excellent Exploring Blogs!

 Today my class was exploring blogs from other people and schools. We had one person from our school, Saint Marys, and the other two from Matawai school. We all saw that they had different interests and different culture backgrounds.

I enjoyed collecting information from other people's blog. I also enjoyed getting to know them through looking at their profiles.

I found it tricky to finish my slides in time because, we had cybersmart at the end of the day. And  had a time limit.

Beautiful Before and After!

 Today I was making a before and after poster on google drawings. We had to take a screenshot of one of our old blog posts, edit the writing by clicking on the pencil at the very bottom of our blog post and take a screenshot of our new, improved blog post. 

I enjoyed making the google drawing and improving my blog post. I think I did well on improving my blog posts by, using adjectives, paragraphs, asking questions, not adding kaomojis, using correct punctuation and explaining what some words mean. 

To be honest, I didn't really find anything tricky or hard. The only thing that was hard for me is to stop using kaomojis, because I really like kaomojis and think that they are cute. But, for quality blog posts, we must not use emojis, kaomojis, and symbols so that we can improve. (kaomojis are just symbols )

Next time I would try and stop using kaomojis and symbols so that I could improve my blog posts, and I would also try to expand my ideas and sentences too.

Raven report

Today I was learning how to write a report about the Raven. The report was a bit hard to write because i couldn't really type that fast. I was also learning to extend my ideas by using examples, presiece adjectives, similes, and cause and effect. I think i did pretty good writing a report. I enjoyed using examples in my report writing. I also enjoyed changing the font so it would look nice and aesthetic. I think I did well on that too.

I found it challenging to type fast, as i mentioned in the first paragraph. I also found it hard to kinda spell words, but luckily, if it weren't for the spelling and grammar check in google docs, I wouldn't be able to spell. Next time I would maybe add a picture of the raven so the reader would know what animal i'm talking about.

Animal groups.

 Today I was learning about animal groups. I found it interesting how there are so much animal groups such as mammals and reptiles for e.g

My new learning was to write at least 3 facts for each animal groups.

I enjoyed picking out the pictures. There were so much to choose from!

I didn't really find anything challenging, although my finger still hurts from pressing the replay button on the video 😅

Next time I would change the background of the slides so it wouldn't look that plain.

 Today i was writing 5 facts about bengal tigers. I used a book to help me find these facts. I learnt more facts from the book compared to the internet! ( i think- 😅)

I found it tricky to get down the 5 facts and this blog post in time!

I enjoyed making the slides even tho i didn't have much time and i was rushing a bit.

Kawa of Care

Today I was learning about the kawa of care and how we can take care of our chromebooks. We watched a video about how we can take care of our chromebooks.  I pretty much knew most of the things it said in the video, but i did learn a few new things. I learnt that we shouldn't pile things on top of our keyboards because, if we do they keyboard might break and not function well.  The kawa of care is a list of rules we should follow to make sure our chromebooks do not break and malfunction. 

I enjoyed making the kawa of care slides and i also enjoyed learning about how we can take care of our chromebooks. I also liked how we have the kawa of care because it helps us be safe around our chromebooks and to take care of them.

I found it challenging to type the down the text in time. I also found it challenging to take my picture of my face because the classroom was a bit too bright. I also found it hard to find the right keyboard picture because there kinda weren't that much options to choose from.

Next time I would change the slide colors to more cooler tones so it would look more pleasing to the eye. I would also change the keyboard picture and my photo.

Marvelous Mosaics!

Today i was making my own mosaic. We were  making the mosaics for the art exhibition. An art exhibition is a place where you can buy other people's art, and other people can buy your art! 

The cross represents Mary Mackillop and how she served for God! I used some blue stones for a nice border. I chose a black background so the bright colors would stand out. 

I enjoyed smearing the grout over my tiles, then wiping off the dried up grout. The grout felt like sand mixed with water, but white!

I found it difficult to glue on the tile pieces ( it was VERY messy!) I used liquid nails to glue on the tile pieces, but the liquid nails kept getting stuck to my skin. 

Making the mosaics started making me liking to sometimes not be clean! Sometimes it's is okay to be messy! Being messy can open your eyes to a whole lot of other ways you can do art!
